5 crore allocation for gas supply to Rangpur

In the proposed the fiscal year 2019-20, Tk 5 billion has been allocated for gas transmission pipeline project in Rangpur.

In June 2021, the project has been set to finish the project. Under the project, gas transmission pipeline will be set up from Bogra to Rangpur via Syedpur. It is going to fulfill the long hopes of the northern region.

Excavation of 11 work-wells in the energy sector, BAPEX and IOC for the discovery of new gas fields, 1 thousand-line 2-D seismic surveys, 1114 sq km of 3-D seismic surveys have been said to be done.

In order to tackle the gas deficit, it has been proposed to set up SPM (Single Point Mooring) for setting up of PNG lines and to set up a pipeline for 3.85 million tonnes of LNG imports, setting up of pre-paid fuel, EVX meters and import of imported fuel oil and crude oil from BPC.

In the budget speech on Thursday (June 13th) in the Parliament House, the proposal was made by Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal.
